The use of ‘rather ‘ and ‘quite’.
Quite = less than ‘very’ but more than ‘ a little’.
Example: She was surprised that I hadn’t heard about her because she’s quite famous. ( less than ‘very famous’ but more than ‘ a little ‘ famous.)

Rather is similar to quite but it is mainly used with negative words or ideas.
Example: 1. It’s rather cold today. We’d better wear our sweaters.
